David Adjaye is a renowned global architect

Celebrated Ghanaian architect David Adjaye will in July this year lead Ghana to its first ever appearance at the Venice Biennale in Italy.

The Venice Art Biennale, first held in 1895, is the original biennale upon which others in the world have been modeled. It celebrates the unique arts of creators from different cultures across the world.

The event is usually covered by some 30,000 journalists from different continents of the world.

Ghana has never received invitation to exhibit at the event.

Speaking to Bola Ray on Starr Chat Wednesday,  an elated Adjaye said he is confident the Biennale will expose Ghanaian arts to the rest of the world.

“What’s amazing is that we have been given permission to launch the first ever Venice Biennale pavilion. We have been accepted to be part of the international Biennale and one of the oldest Biennale in the world to showcase Ghanaian culture on the world stage.

“We are going to have our own space which is about 5000 square foot space which will have five amazing artistes showing their work for the world to come and admire and see what Ghanaian art is doing”.
