A rainstorm has ripped off a three unit Classroom block and Three bedroom teachers bungallow as well as a CHPS Compound at Hliadzi Electoral area in the Afram Plains South District of the Eastern Region.

The incident has destroyed the scarce teaching and learning materials as well as medical tools of the affected facilities.

Assembly Member for Hlihadzi Electoral Area Gideon Tsitsogbe told Starr News
“there was a heavy rain storm yesterday, at about 5pm, which ripped off a three unit classroom block and a three bedroom teachers’ bungalow at Hlihadzi community and at Bumpata community, a three unit CHPS compound was also ripped off. In both incidents it’s affected teaching and learning materials and some medical equipment “.

He added “some houses were also ripped. Many people have been displaced”.

According to him “urgent assistant is needed to re-roof the affected School and CHPS to ensure that the services it provides are restored for the pupils and the people particularly pregnant women in the area ”

The Afram Plains South Acting District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization Stephen Afram says assessment of the damages have been made and forwarded to the Regional office for relief assistance which he is hopeful will be released for distribution to the affected facilities.

Meanwhile, many schools, clinics and houses have been similarly ripped off in Fanteakwa North, Birim Central ,Atiwa East ,Kwaebibirm and Ayensuano Districts.
