Four persons including a two-year-old child are reportedly injured in a rainstorm disaster that ripped off dozens of houses and churches in Nketepa in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern region.

The rainstorm also caused the collapse of four electricity poles plunging the entire fishing community into darkness.

Information gathered indicates that the incident occurred Tuesday evening between 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

Yaw Bossu, Secretary of the local community watchdog committee told Starr News, “Almost half of the buildings in the community have collapsed including four electricity poles broken down into pieces. Four persons including a two-year-old child got serious injuries and as I am speaking to you now two are on admission at the hospital.”

He added that 105 people displaced are struggling to have shelter to temporarily accommodate their families.

According to him, the National Disaster and Management Organization (NADMO) and the Kwahu South district have failed to visit the community, despite several distress calls to them.

“We have informed Kwahu South NADMO but they have not responded, Kwahu South District Chief Executive but he has not responded. None of them has come to Nketepa to see what had happened,” he lamented.
