The Empire FM and Radio 360 team met with the regional minister in his office

The Western Regional Minister , Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah , is appealing to two (2) leading EIB radio stations in the region, Empire fm and Radio 360, to assist government to win its fight against poor sanitary conditions in the Sekondi /Takoradi metropolis.

Speaking in Sekondi during a courtesy call on the Western Regional Minister by the Management team of Empire fm and Radio 360, the Western Regional Minister wondered why people resort to dumping refuse in drains underscoring how a clean environment will ensure good tourism.

“One of our biggest challenge is sanitation; everywhere you go, Ghanaians queue for visa and buy plane tickets to visit Europe and the US because the place is neat ….we cannot continue to create dirt for somebody to come and clean. I believe every money used for waste management is financial loss to the State because if we are able to take care of our waste properly we will not have the flooding when it rains as people dump refuse in drains…I believe that the media especially; Radio 360, (the Akan side); must be used to promote the sanitation side, I strongly believe that you being a media with very a huge network anything you say in Takoradi can get to other parts of the country , so make this materialize as you did during the heavy publicity of TadiFest,” ; said the Western Regional Minister.

He also requested the management of the 2 leading radio stations to ensure businesses are engaged productively in a way that businesses will grow.

“…kindly use your network to promote businesses that we have so that they can grow as when they grow you will also benefit as they will have money to place more adverts…this administration is a business oriented administration as we are grading all the assemblies on their ability to develop their local economies. We feel that the assemblies should have a connection with the business economy. We have been able to establish 2 key committees; the Youth Committee headed by the CEO of Samartex; Mr Senkyire because we want to galvanize the youth into the entrepreneurial sector as the numbers do not favour the youth as only little below 700,000 Ghanaians are employed by the public sector out of the 14million to be employed; and the Sports Committee headed by Mr Wilson Arthur…”

The Business Manager of Empire Fm and Radio 360, Enoch Kwasi Asare , also known as Feeling Daddy , expressed appreciation to the Western Regional Minister for the great support he extended during the maiden TadiFest Carnival held last December and extended invitation to him to be a patron of the festival which he readily accepted.

The other members of management who were part of the visit included the news editor of Empire fm ; Emmanuel Ohene Gyan; the Programmes Mananger of Empire fm ; Joseph Kumi and the Programmes Manager of Radio 360 , Kwame Mensa also known as Kwame Malcolm.
