Pollster Ben Ephson has commended the executive secretary of the IGP who has resigned his post to contest in the ongoing NDC primaries.
Superintendent Peter Lanchene Tuubo is challenging veteran politician Joseph Yieleh Chireh for the slot Wa West slot of the NDC ahead of the 2020 elections.
The former Police officer became famous following a viral video in which he was seen chastising drivers for willingly offering bribes to police officers.
Speaking to Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Monday, the Daily Dispatch newspaper editor said the ex-cop can be trusted by his constituents.
“I think it is the honourable thing he did. Knowing he stood down from such a good position. People should see that he is an honest person who could be one of the honest politicians,” he said.
Some four National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament (MP) in the Volta region have not picked nomination forms to contest the Party’s parliamentary primaries to be re-elected as MPs.
They are Mr Richard Quashiegah, MP for Keta, Mr Clement Kofi Humado, MP for Anlo, Mr Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, MP for Ketu South and Dr Mrs. Bernice Adiku Heloo, MP for Hohoe.
Mr. James Gunu, Volta Regional Secretary of the NDC who confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said a total of 15 women out of 74 persons picked nomination forms after close of nomination on Friday, July 12, to contest various parliamentary seats in the region.
He said Mr. Charles Agbeve, MP for Agortime-Ziope was going unopposed because he was the only aspirant who picked nomination form to contest after close of nomination.
