The level of Education is expected to improve at Asemndasuazo and Anokyi communities in the Ellembelle district in the Western Region with the completion and handing over of a nursery school complex and teachers quarters by the Ghana Gas Company.

The Asemdasuazo community benefited from an ultra modern nursery facility and a modern 4 unit teachers quarters while the Anokyi community also had a modern 4 unit teachers quarters.

Prior to the project, the nursery pupils were in a dilapidated wooden structure.

Mr. Robert Asmah General Manager in Charge of Technical services of Ghana Gas who spoke on behalf of the Chief Executive of Ghana Gas Dr Ben Asante said the company has set aside a percentage of their annual profit to develop communities within the catchment areas and the country at large.

The teachers bungalow

His comment follows Ghana Gas partnership with Quantum PLC to commission an ultra-modern nursery classroom block and four unit accommodation facility for teachers in the Anokyi and Asemndasuazo communities in the Ellembele District of the Western Region.
The initiative is a joint Corporate Social Investment by the two companies aimed at improving educational facilities and standards in the area.

In December 2016, these projects were initiated after a thorough need assessment by partners of project affected communities.

General Manager in charge of Technical Service with the Ghana Gas Company Limited, Robert Asmah at a commissioning ceremony stressed that the company takes as a deliberate effort to support community development through a dedicated funding scheme for its social investments. He assured of the companies support to other needy communities in their project affected areas and the country at large.

The old school structure

“These projects are primarily aimed at addressing some of the educational challenges within these communities and to augment the provision of educational infrastructure of the district in particular and Ghana in general” he said.

The Human Resource Manageress for Quantum Terminal PLC, Mrs. Anastasia Abban in her address pledged of a sustained relationship with Ghana Gas and the communities in a manner that would improve the lives and development of Ghanaian communities.
“We are dedicated to the course of enhancing education as it is the only tool to have succession for our labour today and maintenance of our legacy” she added.

She concluded with an expression of gratitude to the community and traditional authorities for their support in making the project a success.

Ellembelle District Director of Education, Peter Ackah Blay lauded the efforts of Quantum Terminals and Ghana Gas for coming together to improve the lives of children in the district and appealed to other benevolent organisations to assist them with a vehicle to monitor and evaluate the performance of teachers in the Ellembelle district.
