Police Prosecutors have withdrawn two separate charge sheets and replaced it with a single charge sheet that essentially consolidates the two cases involving a total of ten (10) persons charged in line with the foiled Coup plot in Ghana.

Assistant Supredentant of Police, (ASP) Slyvester Asare indicated in Court that the State would like to withdraw the charge sheets and substitute same with another one.

Lawyer for ACP Benjamin Agordzo, Martin Kpebu, raised concerns about the process of withdrawal and the subsequent substitution.

He argued that the accused persons should be allowed to go home and a fresh process is initiated by the Police before a new charge sheet can be presented in Court.

Magistrate Eleanor Kakra Barnes-Botchway, dismissed the argument of the defence team indicating that it is not backed by any law in the country’s Statute books.

As required by the rules of Court in indictment proceedings, the Charges of the accused persons were read to them but their pleas were not taken. ASP Sylvester Asare proceeded to read the facts of the case to the hearing of the Court.

Magistrate Kakra Barnes-Botchway, remanded the accused persons into Police and Military Custody as applies to the accused persons. They are to reappear in Court on 4th of December 2019.

The accused persons, Dr Fredrick Mac Palm (1st Accused), Donyo Kafui A.K.A Ezor, Bright Alan Debrah Ofosu a.k.a Bright Alan Yeboah, Col. Samuel Kodzo Gameli, Gershon Akpah, W.0.2 Esther Saan Dekuwine, Cpl. Seidu Abubakari, L/Cpl. Ali Solomon, L/Cpl. Sylvester Akanpewon and ACP Benjamin Agordzo are suspected to have masterminded a fifteen months plot to destabilize the country and possibly take over the government of the Republic.
