The Ashanti Regional Security Council (RESEC) has held street march dubbed ‘operation show your forces’ in Ashanti regional capital Kumasi.

The joint security forces street march sought to demonstrate to the public the security forces readiness to face any potential threat before and after the Christmas festivities.

The three hours street march started from the Ashanti regional police command through Adum, Asafo, Tech junction to KNUST Campus.

The march continued through Manhyia, Suame roundabout, Bantama through Komfo Anokye and ended at officer’s mess.

Addressin the security personnel, Ashanti regional minister Simon Osei Mensah commended the personnel for their commitment in fighting violent crime and other security threats in the region.

He observed “fortunately for us in the region, all the various security agencies are working as a team. You can hardly find any differences among us when it comes to delivery. I’m urging all of you that what we’ve done up till date we need to continue and sustain it to the betterment of the people of the region and the country at large.”

“Anytime the need has arose for joint force to take any action, we’ve never been found wanting. the teamwork among us is very strong. If one considers the various security challenges that we’ve faced over the years, from the area of the cattle herdsmen menace in Asante Akyem through the Sekyere Afram plains, the galamsey menace which we are still fighting, the problem we had at Manso Nkwanta, KNUST and many others, in fact, you’ve been able to stand the task and I wish to take this opportunity on behalf of the government to congratulate you on an excellent work,” he commended.

The minister also charged the security personnel in the region to stay alert against any potential threat especially during the Christmas festivities

“Whiles moving forward and especially in this time of the year, any security risk that you hear of, quickly alert your bosses so that actions could be taken immediately. As regional coordinating council the little we can do to support you, we will always be sure to do it,” he charged.
