Municipal Chief Executive for Ayawaso Municipal Sandra Owusu-Ahinkorah has lamented over the low turn out of voters, pleading with electorates to heighten their interests n district level polls.

She made this call during a media interaction after casting her vote at the Okponglo electoral area Tuesday afternoon.

Voter turnout throughout the country has been relatively low, with several polling stations recording below average.

According to Starr News Musah Lansa most of the places he visited in the Ayawaso area recorded less than 10% of the expected numbers on the voters’ register.

He also reported there is ” too much partisan politics that has taken over the elections even though it is not supposed to be partisan”.

Meanwhile elections have also been postponed in one out of 25 electoral areas in Ekumfi following a police caution that it was not safe to hold elections in the area.

The Ayawaso MCE entreated all stakeholders and particularly electorates to “show interest in local assembly elections since assembly members and MMDCEs are the real development agents.”

She also used the opportunity to commend the 52 aspirants who are contesting the 13 seats in her municipality for the peaceful and matured manner they conducted their respective campaigns.

“I wish all of them success” she concluded.
