Ghana’s inflation for February 2020 remained unchanged at 7.8 percent, according to the Statistical Service.

Food inflation for the period was at 7.9 percent compared to non-food inflation of 7.7 percent.

Inflation for locally produced items according to the Statistical Service was at 8.6 percent significantly higher than 5.9 percent for imported goods.

David Kombat, Deputy Government Statistician presenting findings to the media said “relative to 11.6 in January 2020 which translates to yearly inflation of 7.8 percent. This means that in the month of February 2020 the general price level was 7.8 percent higher than what was recorded for the month of February 2019.

He added that “the month on month inflation between February 2020 and January 2020 was 0.4 percent. Now the food and non-alcoholic beverages remain the main drivers of inflation.”
