A total of 75 major markets across all 18 districts of the Volta region have been disinfected following Saturday’s national fumigation exercise.

Though the commencement of the exercise delayed in most parts of the selected areas as a result of a heavy rainstorm early that morning, it ended successfully without any hitches.

The Ketu South, Ketu North, Keta and Anloga enclaves were the most affected as they had to only start the exercise after the rains, which lasted till after 10am.

The story in the regional capital of Ho was different as the rains only started after the exercise had already ended.

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, expressed delight in the level of cooperation and support given by traders and other locals in the selected communities for Saturday’s exercise.

The fumigation exercise is geared towards the disinfection of the markets and other places of mass gathering across the nation.

The exercise is being spearheaded by Zoomlion Ghana.
