The National Inspectorate Board (NIB) of the Ghana Education Service has directed all private schools in the country to engage with their Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) to address concerns on the online teaching and learning during this Covid-19 period.

In a release signed the General Secretary of NIB, Dr Haggar Hilda Ampadu said the board is aware and received complaints from parents regarding the implementation of the alternative methods of teaching and learning mainly online by private schools during the Covid-19 period.

According to the NIB, these efforts are laudable, however, parents have expressed concerns on how their wards can prepare for the online classes and how they prepare themselves to support their wards.

The statement added that parents are in limbo as to whether they are to pay the school fees of their wards in full or not.

“The NIB, therefore, is requesting all private schools to engage with their PTAs to address these concern,” Dr Ampadu stated.

“Private Schools are to note that establishing and having an active PTA is a requirement for certification as a school by the NIB and thus it is important to engage PTAs to secure their support in delivering quality education to learners,” the statement stated.

The NIB stated categorically that schools without PTAs will not receive certifications of registration by the board or their existing certification will not be renewed.
