Network for Young Women Empowerment NYWE, a non-governmental organization has added its voice to calls by stakeholders especially security experts on the lifting of the partial lockdown in two regions by President Akuffo Addo during his 7th address to the nation yesterday.

Speaking to Starr News at Nakori, a suburb of the Wa Municipality to donate some PPE’s to the community and extension to the Wa central market, the Chairperson of the network Ida Nakaar stated that although the three-week lockdown was met with severe difficulties by a section of Ghanaians who were calling for the lifting of the lockdown, it was necessary for the government to have shifted the lockdown by two additional weeks.

This according to Miss Nakaar will help the country to contain and stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

She said indiscipline continues to be a bane among Ghanaians in the fight against the deadly virus and urged government through the Ministry of Information to intensify on vigorous education on preventive measures by using various Ghanaian languages.

The Assembly Member for the Nakori Electoral area who doubles as the Presiding Member for the Wa Municipal Assembly Hon. Karim Topie thanked the network for it’s generosity to the community.

He assured the donors that the items will be put into good use to collectively win the fight against COVID-19 in the country and urged other youth groups and benevolent organization to donate towards the Coronavirus fight.

The items donated include Veronica buckets, liquid soaps, hand sanitizers and tissues.

The Upper West Region has recorded eight cases of the novel coronavirus with no single death.
