The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Ministry of Tourism have contracted themselves over the opening of drinking bars in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A statement by the GTA on Wednesday afternoon said drinking spots and hotels could resume operations despite the presidential directive on public gathering.

“Food chains and restaurants can operate sit-down as well as pick-up and delivery services while observing appropriate social distancing and hygiene protocols. All night clubs must remain closed,” the statement said.

But a counterstatement by the Tourism Minister said: “Drinking bars remain closed.
