Moslems in the Western Region have been directed to halt any preparation for prayers today, Friday, June 5, 2020.

The directive, according to the Western Region Chief Imam, Sheik Uztaz Elias Alhassan is to allow various mosques to prepare well to meet the safety and hygiene protocols

He, therefore, stated that Friday prayer be held at homes for the next four weeks

The spokesperson for the Regional Chief Imam, Osam Alhassan speaking to Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene-Gyan said after meeting officials of Ghana Health Service, they realised most of the mosques cannot meet the safety protocols.

Meanwhile, Ghana has recorded 337 more cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours as the country’s total case count stands at 8, 885.

Recoveries have also increased marginally to 3,189 while the death toll still stands at 38.

The current active cases stand at 5,658.

Accra still has the highest number of infections with over 6000 cases now while the Ashanti region is in a distant second spot with almost 1500 cases.

The Ahafo region still remains the only region out of the 16 regions in Ghana yet to record a case of COVID-19 so far.
