President Akufo-Addo has announced that tourist sites and drinking spots can now open for business as part of the country’s gradual approach in returning to normalcy in the wake of COVID-19.
Addressing the nation in his 14th address since the pandemic hit the country, the President, however, said movie cinemas and concert theatres are to remain closed.
“In consultation with the Ghana Tourism Authority and the health experts, I am announcing the reopening of our nation’s tourist sites and attractions, so they can begin to receive visitors.
“Open air drinking spots can now function. The management of these facilities are tasked to enforce enhanced hygiene and social distancing protocols,” the President said.
Ghana has recorded 794 new cases of COVID-19 taking the country’s total infections to 31,851, the Ghana Health Service has announced.
However, recoveries/discharges have increased significantly to 28, 438, with the death toll still pegged at 161.
According to the GHA, Accra still leads the log with 16,426 cases.
Meanwhile, Eight and 25 persons are in critical and severe conditions respectively while four others remain on ventilators.
