The Electoral Commission has so far registered a total of 7,279,237 Ghanaians since the voters’ registration exercise started on June 30.

According to the EC, majority of registered persons are in the Greater Accra Region and Ashanti Region, in line with voter turnout in past elections.

In the Greater Accra Region 1,524,600 persons have been registered whilst the Ashanti Region has seen some 1,319,498 persons registered.

Data released by the EC indicate that 63.8 percent of the registered persons used the Ghana Card while 1.8 percent used the passport and 34.4 percent used guarantors.

11,818 persons had their status as Ghanaians questioned representing 0.2 percent of the registered persons. The most challenges were in the Oti Region, followed by the Ahafo Region.
