A 25-year-old woman has been abandoned by her husband at the Bibiani Government Hospital in Western North Region after she delivered quadruplets through caeseran section.

She delivered on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at about 11:00am.

The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Kwesi Adu-Gyamfi, said the woman was referred from a private facility due to her critical condition.

“After receiving her, I assigned a medical officer to her permanently, we followed her until the 31-weeks where we admitted her and then to 36-weeks when she delivered.”

“I must say that from the time of admission to the time of delivery, the husband who she said is a cleaner in a private firm, did not pass by the hospital nor answer his calls,” he said.

The woman who is a farmer in Kwao-Krom near Sefwi Chirano in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality told the local media that, a scan conducted during her pregnancy revealed she was carrying the four babies.

“When I went for scan they told me I was carrying four babies. I was not happy because of financial challenges. I came to deliver through CS. Since I came it is the Midwives and Doctors who have been taken care of me.”

She appealed to Philanthropists to come to her aide to help her take good care of the children.

The In-charge of Bibiani Government Hospital Maternity Ward, Mrs. Cynthia Kwofie said the mother has been taken through counselling to be psychologically strong be able to take care of the children.

“We have counselled her and educated her on some of the things she should expect and how to overcome them For instance we spoke about the fact that her tummy may become big that gradually exercise may help but she should not be worried when it happens”

She however appealed to Philanthropists and Corporate Ghana to come to the aide of the poor mother .

Husband of the woman, Daniel Aboagye told Starr News he has not abandoned the wife and children but rather returned to Akuti Village to beg for money. He is hoping to return to the hospital later this week.

“I have not run away. I left the hospital around 10:am to Akuti, looking for money. I am a farmer and I don’t have money so I am back to the village to beg for money .In fact I need help else it is difficult.”
