Ekow Quansah Hayford, the Mfantseman lawmaker who was murdered by suspected armed robbers last week will be buried on November 28, 2020, the family has announced.

The family observed one week of his passing today at Mankessim in the Central region.

The ruling New Patriotic Party has chosen the wife of the slain Mfantseman lawmaker Ekow Quansah Hayford as his replacement in the upcoming polls.

Ophelia Hayford who is a Police officer has reportedly resigned from the service to take up the political challenge.

Starr News sources say the party has sent a letter to the Electoral Commission to invoke section 13(4) of CI 127 to allow a 10-day extension of the nomination period within which period the party will file her name.

According to reports, the lawmaker was shot by armed robbers when he was returning from a campaign at Nkusukum on the Mankessim-Abeadze Duadze road on Friday 9th October, 2020 around 1:00 am.

Confirming the news, the NPP first vice constituency Chairman Wofa Yaw said they were were returning from a campaign tour when armed robbers attacked them.

The body has since been deposited at the Saltpond Mortuary.

Meanwhile, the police has commenced investigations into the incident.
