The opposition National Democratic Congress has sacked 18 of its members who have decided to go independent in the upcoming elections.

According to the party, the individuals have forfeited their membership by their decision.

In a statement signed by its General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia, supporters of the party who also endorsed the nomination of the candidates are also in breach of the party’s laws.

Ghana goes to the polls on December 7 to elect a President and 275 Parliamentarians.

The presidential contest is a straight contest between President Akufo-Addo of the NPP and former President John Mahama of the NDC.
