Aspirant Members of Parliament who lost in their primaries in the New Patriotic Party have launched a Special Operation to beef up campaigns to support NPP parliamentary candidates facing stiff contests from independent candidates.

According to the group which calls itself Aspirants Unite for Victory (AU4V), most of these independent candidates are members of the New Patriotic Party who have failed to heed advice to pull out of the race.

Speaking in a news conference in Kumasi, Convener for the group and outgoing Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, Kennedy Kwasi Kamkam was confident his team has a well mapped out strategy to sail their parliamentary candidates pass all such threats.

He noted, “We have special operations in some constituencies that we think the independent candidates are disturbing the party’s elected parliamentary candidates. Constituencies like Bekwai, Fomena, Takwa-Nsuaem, Kwabere East, Manso Adubia and others, I can tell you that aspirants united for victory is doing a lot of submarine work there and we are comfortable that those seats will be maintained and the margins are going to be one of the best,”

The group has also adopted two known NDC seats – Mion and Upper West Akyim constituencies where they are deploying their best arsenals to snatch the seats for the New Patriotic Party.

The Kenedy Kamkam pointed out that per research conducted by the AU4V, the NPP will increase its parliamentary seats from 169 to 175 seats with a presidential vote margin of 58% in the pending elections.

Co-convener Bice Osei Kuffour popularly known as Obuor outlined a number of measures the United Aspirants for Victory is rolling out to ensure that the party’s electoral fortunes is not eroded by voter apathy.

He cautioned, “No matter how much Nana Akufo Addo has worked; no matter how much we have made a difference; without working hard to actually do the engineering that gets people to go and vote, we will be making a very big mistake and creating a huge problem for ourselves.”

The AU4V Zonal teams have engaged in National, Zonal, Regional, and Constituency based activities including Field trips, walks, house-to-house campaigns, and special target-group campaigns with a target to achieve a 95% voter turnout especially in all strongholds of the NPP.
