Legon Cities and Berekum Chelsea shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw on Saturday to kick start the new football season in Ghana.

The two-teams scored in the first half with both goals coming from the spot.
The home side started the game with a grand plan to unsettle the visitors and score an early goal but the plan suffered a major setback in the 19th minute when Stephen Amankonah shot Chelsea into the lead after converting from the spot.

Striker Jonah Attuquaye who made his Legon Cities debut then scored against his former club as he dazzled on the night.

Legon Cities coach Goran Barjaktarevic named debutants Michael Ampadu, Baba Mahama, Elvis Opoku and Jonah Attuquaye in the starting line up against a very experienced Berekum Chelsea side with former Asante Kotoko midfielder Mathew Anim Cudjoe coming on as a second substitute when he replaced Mohammed Yakubu.
For Berekum, Coach Hesse Odamtten opted for experience as he named Richard Kissi Boateng, Kofi Owusu, Stephen Sarfo, Edward Kpodo and Stephen Amankonah in his starting line-up and handed debuts to Hamza Gonji, Samuel Adjei and Henry Ansu.

The two teams pushed for a match winner in the second half of the encounter but all attempts failed to produce goals.
The two first half goals was all they needed to share the spoils at the Accra Sports stadium.
Legon Cities midfielder Elvis Opoku was named Man of the Match following a sterling display on the night.
