Some five aggrieved Paramount Chiefs and stool fathers of the Ave Council of Chiefs in the Akatsi-North District of the Volta region have served notice of their unwillingness to work with current DCE, Dr. Prince Sodoke Amuzu should he be appointed again by President Akufo-Addo.

The Chiefs at a press engagement held on Thursday, 11th February at Ave-Dzalele, described the outgoing DCE as “a disrespectful being” who has consistently undermined them.

The Chiefs include, Torgbui Adogo Agbalekpor IV of Ave-Xevi, Torgbui Kwame Dogli II of Ave-Dzalele, Torgbui Gbordzekpor Fianu III of Ave-Afiadenyigba, Torgbui Dzidenu Zoglo III of Ave-Dzadzepe and Torgbui Ahiabor Gamor III of Ave-Havi.

They alleged that the DCE on countless times refused to respond to their invitation on issues bordering on the development of the area.

“On our return from a visit we made to the Presidency on November, 2nd 2020 we invited the DCE to meet us so we could address some matters relating to our visit among others. He responded to the letter promptly but shifted the call to another week which we accepted but that meeting has since been pending. We felt disrespected and informed the NPP in Akatsi North of their action but they pleaded that we put the issues under the carpet until after the elections but to date, nothing has been done about that disrespectful conduct of the DCE Dr. Prince Sodoke Amuzu.”

They served notice that they will not work with the DCE, Dr. Prince Sodoke Amuzu if he is re-nominated again.

“We cannot disagree with his Excellency the President in his nomination of a District Chief Executive but we wish to make it categorically clear that the Hon. DCE, Dr. Prince Sodoke Amuzu has disrespected us as Chiefs and this is very serious for that matter, we the five Paramount Chiefs would never work with him even if he is re-nominated. We shall make sure also, that none of our subordinate Chiefs in the five of the six Traditional areas has anything to do with him if he remains the District Chief Executive.”

The Council which is made of Paramount Chiefs from the six Traditional areas is also divided over issues in recent times, most especially on matters relating to politics.

But in response, the DCE noted that he is shocked with the new developments indicating that he has always worked with the traditional authorities without any issues.

He further indicated that he has initiated processes to reach out to the Chiefs in order to resolve the issues.
