A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to three years imprisonment for stabbing a rival over a girl lover.

The convict Ayia Kwame Richard alias Macroni was convicted on his own plea.

The fact of the case presented to Asamankese Magistrate Court by prosecution officer, Sergeant Samuel Owusu were that the complainant-Yaw Charles King alias ‘Too Much Money’ is a resident in Mepom while the convict resides at Brekufom all in the Upper West Akyem District.

The prosecution officer said, on January 9, 2021, at about 8:30 pm, a misunderstanding ensued between the convict and complainant over a lady which they both were in love with.

According to the prosecution, the misunderstanding degenerated into a fistfight which led to the convict suddenly pulling an Okapi knife concealed in his dress to stab the neck of the complainant.

The convict took to his heels after the complainant fell on the ground bleeding profusely.

An eyewitness rushed the victim to Asamankese Government Hospital for treatment but was later referred to the Regional Hospital in Koforidua where after weeks of admission was discharged.

A formal complaint was lodged at the police station upon which the suspect was arrested at his hideout and charged with the offense.

He pleaded guilty hence convicted by the Presiding Judge His Honour Abubakari Adams Abass.
