All is set for the maiden edition of the Empire Fm Free Prostate Cancer Screening.

As a media house keen on contributing to the good of society, our airwaves has this month been dedicated to educating our cherished listeners on prostate cancer, a dire predicament claiming lives of men in the country.

The incidence of prostate cancer is increasing in sub-Saharan Africa out of which Ghana is not an exception. It is among the most commonly diagnosed cancers among men in the subregion. Despite the increasing trend of PC in the subregion, there is paucity of research on the disease. Also, prostate cancer awareness and knowledge about its prevention is low in the subregion.

As part of celebrating our dads even after the ceremonial fathers’ day; Empire 102.7 FM is climaxing its month-long education with a free prostate cancer screening at the Takoradi mall on Saturday, June 26, 2021.

According to the Business Manager of Empire Fm and Radio 360, Enoch Asare popularly known as Feeling Daddy this initiative is been motivated by the need to have a positive impact on society as a media house.

” ..many have applauded this move by Empire FM as we have had testimonies from individuals who have lost loved ones to this debilitating disease due to the late knowledge in ensuring one does periodic PSA tests to know one’s status and take the necessary steps…”
Enoch Asare added.

Thus male patrons aged 40 years and above are being urged to visit the Takoradi Mall between the hours of 9 am and 5pm on Saturday, June 26, 2021, and get screened for free.

The programme is put together with the support of organisations like GOIL, FIRST NATIONAL BANK , WASTE 360 ENVIRONMENTAL AND MANAGEMENT SERVICES AND TAKORADI MALL LTD, WESTVIEW MEDICAL CENTRE , with media support from Radio 360 and GHOne Tv.
