Popular Grammy Award-winning Nigerian singer Ayo Balogun better known in showbiz as Wizkid on Monday changed his Instagram username to Big Wiz.

The artiste, in December 2019 hinted at a name change in a Twitter post when he announced the release of his chart-topping album ‘Made in Lagos’.

In that tweet, he wrote, “After Made in Lagos! I’m giving y’all one last album as Wizkid.”

According to him, the ‘Made In Lagos’ album was his last body of work under the name Wizkid.

Wizkid’s album ‘Made In Lagos’ has fourteen songs in which he featured Burna Boy, Skepta, Damian Marley, H.E.R, Tems, Terri, Tay Iwar, Projexx, and Ella Mai.

It can be recalled that Wizkid fans had in the past asserted that the singer removed the suffix ‘- kid’ from his name, based on his increase in age and achievements in the music industry.

Wizkid started recording music at the age of 11. He signed his first major deal with Banky W and Captain Demuren’s Empire Mates Entertainment record label in 2009 and rose to prominence after his single ‘Holla at Your Boy’.

Meanwhile, the singer is not the first Nigerian musician to change names, either formally or informally.

Legendary singer Tuface, changed his name to 2baba; iconic rap artiste Sauce Kid, changed his name to Sinzu; and Kiss Daniel changed to Kizz Daniel.

With the new user name Big Wiz, is Wizkid almost done with another album as Wizkid?
