The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality Mohammed Salisu Bamba has withdrawn his application for the position of MCE.

He reportedly arrived at the decision for the “peace of the municipality and the general unity and growth of the New Patriotic Party.”

Salisu Bamba came under heavy attack after the killing of social media activist Ibrahim Mohammed popularly known as Kaaka at his home Saturday, June 26.

Bamba was accused of being complacent in the gruesome murder after reports he had cautioned the late activist for making the government unpopular in his social media posts.

Kaaka was known to call out the government on social media, especially Facebook over developmental lapses in the area.

In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the MCE vetting committee at the Jubilee House through the Ashanti regional minister, the MCE wrote “I write to withdraw my application for the position of Municipal Chief Executive of Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality. I arrived at this decision for the peace of the municipality and the general unity and growth of the New Patriotic Party.”

The statement went on “I express sincere appreciation to H.E the president of the republic for the confidence reposed in me to serve in his first term of office. I also graciously thank the good people of the Ejura-Sekyedumase constituency for giving me the opportunity of serving them in the sixth (6th) parliament between 2013 to 2017 to the best of my ability.”

“I have always worked in service of my party and country, and it is in that spirit that I am withdrawing myself from consideration. I will like to firmly assure the people of the Municipality, my party members, and the general public that, I will continue to work for the general good of the municipality, my party, and the country.”

President Alufo-Addo is, however, yet to nominate MCE’s across the country.
