Board member of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Isaac Aboagye Duah has revealed the list of the Queen’s Barton bearers ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The Queen’s Baton will arrive in Ghana on Monday October 25, 2021 and leave the shores of Ghana on Wednesday October, 28.

The Baton relay will travel across the principal streets of Accra, Tema and Kumasi from 26th October to 28th October.

In Accra, the President of Ghana will first receive it in a short ceremony before moving Kumasi, where is Royal Majesty Otumfuor Osei Tutu II will receive it together with the regional minister and the CEO of the Rotary Park.

Ghanaian musicians Stonebwoy and Kofi Kinaata are expected to be bearer of the baton relay when it arrives in Accra.

Among other bearers include all the athletes that competed at the last commonwealth games in Australia, recent Olympians, veteran Sports Journalist Kwabena Yeboah and among others.

“All the athletes who were in the Commonwealth Games in Australia are going to hold it, Samuel Takyi the bronze medalist from the Olympic games is going to hold it, Coach Asare is going to hold it as well as Bawa Fuseini from Ghana Athletics Association.”

Isaac Duah Who also doubles as the president of the Ghana Tennis Federation stated that the Queen’s Barton is very unique, therefore Ghana will use this opportunity to showcase it culture to the rest of the world.

The 2022 Commonwealth games will take place in Birmingham from July 8 to August 8, 2022.
