Legon Cities picked up their first three points of the 2021/2022 season in their second game at the Accra Sports Stadium with a win over Real Tamale United.

The Royals beat the premier league returnees Real Tamale United in a five-goal thriller at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday. The two clubs managed a draw in their respective games on the opening day.

Legon frustrated defending champions Hearts of Oak to a 1-1 draw while R.TU secured a late draw against Great Olympics at home in their first league game after seven seasons in the lower tier.

Joseph Adjei drew the first blood for Legon Cities by the 22nd minute finishing off after a sweet build up.

However, David Abagna Sangna, who joined RTU from Ashanti Gold last month, equalized for the Giants of the North at the half-hour mark with game ending one all at the break.

In the second half Nathaniel Akwah scored a sublime free kick in the 56th minute before Jonah Attuquaye added another from the spot on 75th minute to make it 3-1 as the hosts looked to be home and dry.

However, David Abagna scored his third goal of the season and his second on the day from the spot kick three minutes later to keep the visitors in the game.

The Pride of the North threw several men forward in search for the equaliser to snatch a point, however, Legon were resolute at the back as they held on to win their first game of the season.

Legon Cities have temporarily moved to the summit of the league log with four points. The remaining games of the week will be held on Sunday across six venues.
