Asante Kotoko recorded their second victory of the season by beating Bechem United 2-0 at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi.

Both clubs had scoring opportunities to break the deadlock in the first half but both failed to utilize the chances.

Bechem United striker, Emmanuel Avornyo had a clear chance in the 6th minute to draw the first blood but his inability upfront allowed Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Razak Abalora to deny him from scoring.

Kotoko trio, Stephen Amankona, Richmond Lamptey and Joseph Amoako with powerful drives failed to find the net while Clinton Duodu of Bechem United also became a thorn in the flesh of Kotoko upfront.

Ibrahim Moro replaced Patrick Asmah in the 36th minute after Asmah picked up an injury.

In the second half, Fabio Gama, Joseph Amoako and Stephen Amankona were replaced by George Mfegue, Isaac Oppong and Richard Boadu respectively.

In the 83rd minute, a challenge from Dennis Mosaka on Isaac Oppong in the 18-yard box gave the Porcupines a chance to score the first goal.

From 12 yards, captain of Kotoko, Abdul Ganiyu converted from the spot kick to give Kotoko the lead.

Samuel Boateng scored his first goal for the Porcupines with a header with an assist from Ibrahim Moro to seal all three points for the Porcupine Warriors in Kumasi.
