The 4th edition of the African Goalball Championship began today at the sports hall of the University of Cape Coast. Ghana won their first match in both the men and female games. The Men’s team thrashed Nigeria 10-0 in the first half, forcing the game to be brought to an end, with the female side beating the Kenyan Women’s team by 21 goals to 11.

This is Ghana’s first appearance in the African Championship which also serves as a Qualification to the 2022 World Cup in China.

Defending Champions Algeria (Men) beat Cameroon by 12-2.

In the battle of North African Countries, Algeria women’s side showed their superiority as a three time winner to beat Egypt by 10 goals to Nill.

The Cameroonian men side recovered from their first defeat to Algeria as they won over Kenya by 16-11.

The competition which is expected to end on Friday, December 10, will see the two finalists qualifying to the upcoming Goalball World Cup in China.
