Five persons are reported dead after two haulage locomotives collided at Wassa Manso in the Mpohor District of the Western Region.

The accident occurred as a result of a break in communication of the signals team of the Ghana Railways Company.

The collision per an eye witness happened at about 10pm last night with one person dead.

The Other four persons were later today discovered dead as well from the wreckage with 6 persons found in critical condition.

It is reported that one of the locomotives was moving from Tarkwa to Wassa Manso while one was already parked but due to a lack of clear communication it was not able to move off the track the moving train was using hence crashed into the parked train.

Although it is known to be a haulage train for bauxite, manganese among others, some indigenes along its route board it due to the bad nature of their road.
