Kumasi Asante Kotoko today tasted their first defeat of the season against their City rivals King Faisal in a match day six fixture of the Ghana Premier League.

The combination of some excellent defensive tactics and a swift counter attacking football from King Faisal, left Kotoko clueless in spite of their efforts to overturn a 3-2 scoreline.

Zuberu Ibrahim announced his presence from the blast of the whistle to the end by scoring a hatrick to ensure that Mfuege’s brace was not enough to restore parity.

Ibrahim raised the curtain in the third minute with a rebound after his first attempt was saved by Abalora.

The attacker grabbed another opportunity presented to him to double the lead with a close range curler in the 16 yard box.

The Porcupines pressed on to at least reduce the deficit before half time, but a penalty which was awarded to them, but later rescinded, almost turned their hopes to despair.

Mfuege instantly hit the grounds running in the second half with a goal from close range to keep Asante Kotoko in the game.

But Zubeiru added his third, the moment Kotoko were pushing hard to equalise, before Mfuege pulled another one back.

The result has put Kumasi King Faisal on top of the League with 13 points.
