About Sheldon The Turn Up

Sheldon Joel Twum-Barima, popularly known as Sheldon The Turn Up, is a DJ, MC extraordinaire, music producer, and TV and radio presenter. In his own words, “I just started out by just partying a lot till I one day realised I could “Turn Up” a party faster than one DJ at one nightclub I visited with my friends. We were bored, so I requested one song and decided to play with the crowd. That DJ repeated the same song 7 times more that night.

He has since played in the majority of the city’s prestigious clubs over the last decade. His MC prowess, which seemed to attract more attention to his brand, is what he calls “unorthodox but effective”. Being a DJ himself, he’s able to bridge the gap between the music being played and the audience in such a fluid manner, and this has led him to Mc on many of the big shows in the country. From S-Concerts to Ghana Meets Naija, Unplugged, Hennessey Artistry Concert, BHIM Concert , Epilogo, PlanetX, Sallah Fest, TipToe Concert, Axe POTY, Fadama Concert, and many, many more ( he says he honestly can’t remember most).

He’s an avid promoter of Ghanaian music as he has 10 songs and 3 remixes to his name, featuring some top artists such as Kuami Eugene, MzVee, Magnom, Tulenkey, Gyakie and more. He also promotes Ghanaian music in his sets as he’s been playing strictly Ghanaian music for some time now and encourages more DJs to play as much as they possibly can.

He’s currently the host of Rythmzlive VJ Miz on GHOne TV, Starr Night Club on Starr 103.5fm, and the rap battle show, GHOGH (Go Hard Or Go Home). He also hosts a Plug InNn show with international fishermen, Gasmilla and Pee Raven, on Tuesdays.
