The local Organising Committee for the 2023 African Games in Ghana is pleading with President Akufo-Addo to resolve the impasse  between African Union and the Association of African Sports Confederations on the organization of the African Games.

The  Association of African Sports Confederations(AASC) has threatened to boycott the African Games following African Union’s failure to involve the body in the organisation of the African Games. The AASC boycotting the games will be a big blow to Ghana, as they have the influence to convince most of the Sports federations to withdraw from competing in the Multi-Sports Event which is schedule to commence on August 4, 2023.

Media and communication Committee Chairman for the LOC, Dan Kweku Yeboah has however pleaded with President Nana Akufo-Addo to resolve the tussle between the two bodies in order to have a successful competition next year.

“We are aware of the impasse between the AASC and the AU. However it is beyond the LOC and so we have updated the President of the land and pleaded with him to intervene so Ghana does not suffer the consequences of the feud between the two parties and we believe that once the president gets in touch with the Commissioner of AU it will be resolved” he told Starr FM Sports.
