Communications Director for the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante-Twum has stated unequivocally that the Ghana Football Association has never considered Chris Hughton for the vacant Black Stars Coach role.

This revelation comes on back of media reports that the former Newcastle manager Hughton has been approved by the Government of Ghana for the coaching duties at the Black Stars.

Henry Asante Twum in a chat on Starr FM however said the FA’s resolve has always been to appoint Otto Addo as a stop gap Coach for the World Cup Qualifier play-offs against Nigeria next month and then painstakingly look for a new coach.

“The medium term plan is to finish the two World Cup Qualifiers play-off.
If we qualify, we will have eight months in front of us to plan to either head hunt or open room for applications for the Black Stars Coaching role.
It can also help us to look out for players of Ghanaian descent who can help our cause.

He added that Kurt Okraku and Anthony Baffoe are expected to brief the FA on their return from Germany and based on the report they present, further action will be taken on the appointment of a new coach.

“With reference to the last meeting held before Kurt Okraku left for Germany, Otto Addo was the choice as a stop gap Coach for the two matches against Nigeria.
There was no discussion about his assistants nor Chris Hughton” he said.
