Former Ghana under 17 international Najeeb Yakubu has pleaded with government to evacuate Ghanaians in Ukraine amidst Russian-Ukraine war crisis.

Russia’s aggressive invasion of Ukraine has prompted panic across the world as hundreds of missiles have been fired into Ukraine, targeting military installations  like airfields, barracks, and ammunition storage facilities. As a result, the Ukraine Premier League has been suspended leaving many foreign players stranded.

Speaking on Sports today with host Benjamin Yemoah the DC Votskla Poltvava center back said, “We just want to go home. Just find a way for us to go home. They can take us to the closest border and fly us home. They can even take those of us with the necessary documents to Poland. In one week time we don’t know how is going to be, it’s either going to be worse or calm but we don’t know what will happen so we have to move as early as possible”.
