The Super Eagles of Nigeria drew goalless against the Black Stars of Ghana at the Baba Yara stadium in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup playoff.

The Ghanaiana were the better side in the beginning embers of the game as they dominated possession but failed to take advantage of it to get a goal.

Nigerian goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho came to the rescue of the Eagles after he saved a belter from Fatawu Issahaku in what was the best chance in the first half.

The Nigerians found their feet in the last twenty minutes of the game creating decent chances. Victor Osimhen and Joe Aribo failed to utilise their chances with the first half ending.

The Black Stars started the second half on a slow note compared to the first half. A Mohammed Kudus strike was parried away by Uzoho.

Joojo Wallocot came to the rescue of Ghana after Moses Simon failed to score from the clearest chance of the game for the Nigerians.

Nigeria were awarded a penalty in the 76th minute of the game after Baba Iddrisu had a touch to the ball with his hand. The decision was however overturned after Moroccan referee, Redouane Jiyed had a second look kind courtesy the Video Assistant Referee.

Half chances were created by Ghana but they failed to put the ball at the back of the net.

The second leg comes off on Tuesday, March 29 at the Moshood Abiola stadium.
