Executive Member for the Ghana Football Association, Dr. Tony Aubyn says the reason behind the decision of the GFA not to release the Black Stars Squad ahead of Nigeria’s game is for a good reason.

The Black Stars of Ghana are billed to take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a two-leg encounter of the final round of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The first encounter comes off at Cape Coast on Friday, 25th March 2022 while the return league takes place at at the Mashood Abiola Stadium in Nigeria.

Ahead of the all important clash, Head Coach for the Super Eagles, Austine Eguavoen has named a strong line up ahead of the big game. Interim Coach for Black Stars, Otto Addo was also expected to release his squad ahead of the game this week but that has not materalised. According to Starr Sports sources at the GFA, the GFA has taken a decision not to announce the Black Stars squad for the Nigeria Clash.

Speaking on Friday Night Football with Kofi Mensah on Starr FM, Dr. Tony Aubyn revealed the decision not to release the squad is a technical decision.

“The reason why the squad has not been released is a technical decision backed by management.” He said.

The former Mineral Commission boss, Dr. Aubyn declared that the decision is a good one and for a good reason. “We recently formed the technical team and the management team and i’m sure they have a reason why and they have their own timelines. It is for a good reason.”

According to him, he can’t tell when the squad will be announced though he is an EXCO member but he believes it will be soon.

“I can not explain even though I’m in the EXCO. We have given them the responsibility to the technical team. I believe that the squad will be announced soon and i can’t tell how soon because i don’t know the timeline.” He added
