Nigeria’s center forward, Odion Ighalo, has assured Nigerians of victory today against the Black Stars of Ghana.

The two nations meet for the first time since 2011 in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff game at the Baba Yara sports stadium.

Both teams qualified for the playoff stage after topping their group with 13 points each.

Speaking exclusively to GHOne TV Sports, the Al Hilal striker, Ighalo revealed they have been working very hard towards this particular fixture.

“We have been working hard since we came to camp. It is a tough game because we know the rivalry between the two countries,” he said.

The 2019 AFCON top scorer also revealed that there is a bit of pressure on the Super Eagles due to their AFCON exit but he believes they will turn out victorious at the end of the day.

“There is pressure on us the same way there is pressure on Ghanaians. We have to qualify for the World Cup. With what happened in the AFCON there is a little bit of pressure but we know we are capable of winning” he added.

Odion Ighalo did not feature in the AFCON 2021 due to the decision of his club not to release him. He has played 28 games for two clubs this season and has scored 22 goals with 2 assists. He also has 36 caps and 16 goals for the Super Eagles.
