Former IBF lightweight champion Emmanuel  ‘GameBoy’ Tagoe was defeated by America’s undefeated boxer Ryan Garcia at San Antonio via an unanimous decision on Sunday morning.

In a bout that won the attention of a lot of boxing fans after a verbal fight last Wednesday at the Pre bout Presser, Ryan Garcia dominated the Ghanaian throughout the contest with Tagoe at the receiving end of a chunk of the heavy punches.

Regardless of the clear domination Garcia had over Tagoe, the Ghanaian boxer endured and lasted all 12 rounds despite a knockdown on a couple of occasions.

Expectedly, all judges scored in Garcia’s favour.

Official result: Ryan Garcia defeated Emmanuel Tagoe via unanimous decision (119-108, 119-108, 118-109)

The records went ahead to expose that, Tagoe landed just 90 punches against his opponent’s 165.

Garcia who was back in the ring after 15 months was also fighting his first 12-round bout in professional boxing.

He however thought he could have even done better.

“I think if I’d started pressing him harder in the beginning of the fight, I could have gotten him out of there,” Garcia said in his post-fight interview. “But what can I say? It was a track-down fight. I had to track him down. It was a new experience having to cut the ring off against a guy who was trying to fight to survive. I appreciate it.”

While this becomes Emmanuel Tagoe’s second defeat, it is Garcia 22nd win with 18 coming by way of knockouts.
