Ghana’s most sought-after premium event host and CEO of Domotale, Jerry Adjorlolo, has emphasized the need for people to treat their talents as a business if they hope to maximize their talents.

According to him, “until you see yourself and hold yourself as a business, nobody would treat your talent with the respect and premium that it deserves”.

He made this remark when he spoke on the topic “Monetizing and Maximizing Your Talent” at the first of the 2022 edition of the What I Wish I Knew-WIWIK Chats series which commenced last Saturday 27th March 2022.

Reminiscing on his journey, Jerry Adjorlolo revealed he discovered his talent at age nine and nurtured it throughout his school days. Despite beginning a career in the corporate space, his talent still came to bare as he hosted events for his company and for other companies till he eventually ventured fully into event hosting some eight years ago.

On maximizing and monetizing one’s talent, he retorted that, beyond the quality of the talent served, that talent must satisfy an audience.

He however intimated that satisfying everyone was an impossibility hence there is a need to have a niche of expertise in order to maximize one’s talent.

Jerry Adjorlolo additionally emphasized the importance of building capacity, through constant assessment and reevaluation of ones’ talent as well as mentors who would keep one abreast with the ever-changing landscape.

Finally on branding, for Jerry Adjorlolo, “What you see is what you must get”. There must be clarity on the brand that one wants to build as that determines why a client would choose you over your competitors. Though skills and talent with the competition may be the same, it is a recognized brand that makes distinguishes.”, he added.

The What I Wish I Knew – WIWIK Chats hosted by Bernard Tawiah is a precursor for the annual What I Wish I Knew Conference; an advisory forum focused on career development and employability skills for final year students in tertiary institutions to inform and provide a roadmap for them as they prepare to enter into the job market.
