First Ghanaian pilot to fly the Emirates’ Airbus A380 from Dubai to Accra A380 has disclosed that he is not only familiar with the cockpit and the joystick but he also enjoys some beautiful tunes from Afrobeats to HipPop.

Speaking to Nana Aba Anamoah on StarrChat, the winner of the BALAFON Aviation Man of the Year in West Africa award, Captain Solomon Quainoo has mentioned that Ghanaian songwriter and singer Kofi Kinaata has joined Nicki Minaj and Major Lazer on his music playlist.

According to him, though it is one of the “Don’ts” for pilots to listen to songs in the cockpit during their free days he vibes to songs from his favourite music personalities.

He says, “I love Kofi Kinaata’s lyrics, Major Lazer’s ‘Particula’ song and other songs with most of Nicki Minaj’s songs have a spot on his playlist”

Captain Quainoo made history by being the first pilot and African to fly Emirates flagship double-decker aircraft A380 to Ghana’s Kotoka International Airport’s newly constructed Terminal 3 (T3), in October 2018 to a rousing welcome by Koforidua Sectech Old Students Association.

This feat of landing the biggest commercial passenger aircraft ever brought high euphoria into the country and trended for several weeks across varied media networks and platforms.

Being the first Ghanaian ever to fly such a huge aircraft and landing it in the country of his birth for the first time, served as motivation and a symbol of determination for many people, especially the youth. This as well goes a long way to deepen the growth of the country’s aviation industry.
