President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that he has no favourite in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership race for the 2024 elections.

Mr Akufo-Addo added that his only interest is ensuring that the party elects the right person who can unite the party and beat the NDC in the 2024 elections.

“The only time that preference will be shown is when I go to vote, but until then I have no preference. My attitude is a simple one; just create the condition for a fair process, one that will enable us after the completion [of the internal elections] to unite the party,” President Akufo-Addo said on NANDOM FM, in the Upper West Region as part of his tour of the Region.

He added, “Somebody who will come and have the capacity to unite our party and put it in a position to confront the traditional opponent, the National Democratic Congress, and beat the National Democratic Congress.”

The frontrunners for the NPP presidential race are Trades and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeremanteng, and Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.

Several other big wigs of the party including firebrand Kennedy Agyepong are also vying for the slot to lead the party for the 2024 polls.
