A 26-year-old Stephen Akwaboah has been lynched by unknown assailants for allegedly stealing at Big Apple a suburb of Gomoa Buduburam in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
Residents say they have been experiencing a series of stealing cases and they are not surprised Stephen Akwaboah popular known as Rasta has been lynched.
The deceased was found dead at Big Apple on the Gomoa Toansah Road with a black bag two pairs of slippers and sticks beside him with blood all over his head.
Residents in an interview with GHOne News, Yaw Boagyan expressed joy after seeing the lifeless body of Rasta who they claim is a known criminal whose gang snatches motorbikes of innocent people.
Meanwhile, Assembly Member for Gomoa Buduburam Electoral Area, Lot Arthur condemned the instant justice meted out to the suspect and appealed to the residents to desist from taking the laws into their hands after arresting criminals.
The wife of the deceased, Selina Essel denied the allegations that her husband was a thief insisting that he was an Okada Rider who had gone to the area to collect his motorbike from a spare rider.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Winneba Special and Trauma Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy while the case has been reported at the Gomoa Budumburam police station for investigation.
No arrest has been made so far.
