At least two construction workers have been injured after ongoing construction project collapsed on them in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital.

The incident occured Wednesday October 12,2022.

The workers were working on the building at the site when the roofing caved in on them.

The victims were rushed to the Eastern regional hospital and have been admitted.

Eyewitnesses say they heard a loud bang at the site after minor wind blew and suddenly saw the roof collapsing.

The over eight million cedis Koforidua Jackson park redevelopment project is being funded under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support programme (GSCSP).

It was awarded to Soman Consult Limited in 2021 to redevelop the Jackson park to befit a modern status in order to host all sort of events within the Koforidua Municipality.

It is being constructed on 15,000km square land. The project contains car park, valley and basketball courts,
VIP stands ,stores, mini theater, restaurant, pub among others.

Residents are blaming the contractor for shoddy work.

However the contractor blocked Starr News access to the scene and denied interview.

Meanwhile, the tartted metal roof fence around the project is posing danger to pedestrians .
