The family of the late Ibrahim Mohammed aka Kaaka has criticised the government accusing it of abandoning the prosecution of accused persons involved in the murder of the slain social advocate.

According to the family, not once has prosecutors been present in court in 16 months ever since the incident occurred on June 26, 2021, at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday in Accra, the spokesperson for the Kaaka Family, Nafiu Mohammed said the life of the family has been destroyed while they’ve been denied justice.

“We’ve had cause to complain severally including to the IGP that certain officials of the Ghana Police Service went to physically assault Baba Iddi who is the senior brother to Kaaka and forced him to thump print certain documents. Today, the life of our family has been destroyed, ever since Iddi was released on bail, he’s taken to drinking and has been wholly dependent on alcohol. Not a single day goes by without him trying to drown himself in sorrowness in alcohol. His own life is messed up now, he can no more work, and he has become dependent on his family to survive.

Nafiu Mohammed added: “His mental health has terribly been affected, and the stigma that he has been publicly shunned in the community. Our son is not doing well at all and this is breaking the heart of our mother. She now feels like two sons were taken from her that day.”

He further revealed that the wife of the slain activist, Sahada Hudu, and three daughters have experienced physiological issues following the killing of their father.

“There’s a psychological problem with Kaaka’s five children. At the crime scene on that fateful day, all the children saw the pool of blood their father was lying in. I can confidently tell you that three of the children don’t pass through that corridor where there was a pool of blood. Psychologically they are affected. She herself (Kaaka’s wife) has a psychological problem because she was part of those people who picked up her husband in a pool of blood and she’s been affected by that.”

Kaaka died on 28th June, 2021 after he was allegedly attacked in front of his house at Ejura on 26th June 2021.

Following the death, Fuseni Alhassan and Ibrahim Issaka were arrested, and Iddi Mohammed his brother was subsequently arrested as well.
