Aide to former President John Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari says former President John Mahama was demonized by the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) just for President Akufo-Addo to win political power.

Speaking on Starr Chat with Nana Aba Anamoah, Madam Mogtari said the level of insults rained on the former President when he was in office was unprecedented.

“I still remember London in particular when I heard all those noises. I don’t know how to describe how I felt at that time. Sometimes, I will have some description of John Mahama and I wonder is that the same man? I hear all the stories and I ask where all these contradictions were coming from. That means there must be something we are missing.

“But I look back on it now and realized that clearly, this was largely because someone wanted to become President by all means, and in so doing has to demonize another person. Just so he could come out as the better individual,” The former Deputy Transport Minister stated.

She continued: “Yes we had dumsor in the run-up to the 2016 elections, yes most Ghanaians didn’t like it but we were in a situation that we will not want to experience. No leader will have to grapple with these crippling power outages, the challenges to the economy in particular. But think about it, the dollar did not go down.”

Madama Mogtari said the cedi has devalued against the US dollar to about 30 percent and the recent World Bank report gave a vivid description of what Ghana’s cedi is like now.
