The Labour Unions in the public universities in Ghana have announced the suspension of their industrial action with immediate effect.
This comes after the Labour Unions agreed to a roadmap for the payment of all outstanding arrears resulting from the unilateral variation of the Off-Campus and Vehicle Maintenance Allowances at a meeting held on Thursday, 8th December 2022.
“In addition, the Employer assured the Labour Unions to resolve all outstanding issues related to the conditions of service of the aggrieved Labour Unions,” a statement issued by the Labour Unions said.
The Labour Unions including UTAG, GAUA, SSA-UoG, FUSSAG, and TEWU-GH, have been on industrial action since Monday, 17th October 2022 following what they described as the blatant unilateral variation of agreed conditions of service in the face of hostile economic conditions.
However, the worker unions following the development thanked all stakeholders for their effort to end the industrial action.
“More importantly, we thank you, our gallant members, for your support as we work to secure improved conditions of service for all workers of public universities in Ghana,” the statement concluded.
