EIB Network’s Nkawkaw-based Agoo FM has launched Anti-Bush Fire Campaign to help prevent bushfires in the Eastern Region and other parts of the country.
The Launching had support from the Chief of Obomeng Nana Effah Opinanam III and MCE for Kwahu South Emmanuel Attah Ofori Snr.
Others include Nii Kwei Kussachin Kwahu South, Forestry Commissioner, ADO Paul Kwasi Nyamavor Kwahu South Rural Fire Volunteer, and Atiwa Fire Commander DO2 Samuel Mantey who joined via phone to educate the general public on the need to avoid bushfire.
The Business Manager for Agoo FM Kofi Wiafe Apenteng who led the team to launch the program on the Morning Show today expressed appreciation to the various stakeholders for their support and appealed to the general public to help achieve equal goals so far as anti-bushfire is concerned.
According to him, there is a need to acquire the necessary logistics for fire volunteers in the station’s (Agoo FM) catchment areas adding that, the station will use its platform to appeal to the general public to support in their small ways.
On his part, Nana Effah Opinaman III applauded Agoo FM for their effort toward community development.
He warned hunters, farmers, and all involved to be cautious over their attitudes toward bushfires.
The MCE for Kwahu South Emmanuel Attah Ofori Snr said the Assembly’s by-laws on bushfire will not spare anyone despite the person’s political affiliation if one is found guilty.
He, therefore, appealed to the general public to help prevent the forests from bushfires.
